Central SchemeCash Transfer

National Overseas Scholarship for SC Students (NOS-SC)

A scheme providing financial assistance to students from Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans for pursuing Master's and PhD degrees at accredited foreign universities. Around 125 scholarships are awarded annually, covering tuition fees, maintenance allowance, airfare, visa, and health insurance.

Central SchemeCash Transfer

Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students (PM-SC)

A Centrally Sponsored Scheme implemented through State Governments and UT administrations to support parents of SC children and other disadvantaged categories for education at the pre-matric stage. Aims to improve participation, minimize drop-out rates, and enable progression to post-matric education. Component 1 covers SC students in Class 9-10; Component 2 covers children of manual scavengers, tanners, waste pickers, and hazardous cleaning workers in Class 1-10.

Central SchemeCash Transfer

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)

A centrally sponsored scheme launched in May 2008 to encourage meritorious students from economically weaker sections to continue their education at the secondary and higher secondary level. Around 1,00,000 scholarships are awarded annually to Class 8 students studying in government, government-aided, or local body schools, providing ₹12,000 per year from Class 9 to 12.

Educational Crisis Scholarship Support (ECSS)

Buddy4Study’s programme page lists support for Classes 1–12, diploma, ITI, polytechnic, undergraduate and postgraduate students, with awards from ₹15,000 to ₹75,000 by study level. It lists a 55% minimum in the most recent qualifying examination and annual family income up to ₹2.5 lakh; personal or family crisis is a preference, not a universal eligibility condition.

Other support for students

These benefits serve different needs and have their own eligibility requirements.

Apprenticeships combine workplace training with a stipend under programme rules; internships provide time-limited work experience; training schemes support skill development. Availability and terms depend on the current notice or provider.
